Kasabian

During the recording of Kasabian's second album, Empire, Christopher Karloff, one of the band's chief songwriters, had "artistic and creative differences" and was asked to leave the band, according to the band's website, although there is evidence to suggest that Christopher Karloff left due to personal circumstances.[1] He had contributed his writing skills to three of the songs on Empire (the title track, which went on to be the first single released from the album, and also By My Side and Stuntman). Jay Mehler was his replacement.

He is now a permanent touring member of Kasabian, although he is not involved with most of the promotional work that the band does. He is credited on Empire and also features on the video for the song "Empire".

Personal life

Since 2006 he's been dating Ringo Starr's daughter Lee Starkey, and in June 2009 they announced they were expecting triplets.[2] He recently jammed with a 13 year old Hugo Richardson. the young guitarist.

Equipment

Jay utilises Gretsch guitars live accompanied by Vox amplifiers, notably the AC30CC2X.He also has been seen utilising Marshall Bluesbreakers. He uses a Blackstar HT-Dual pedal to create his tone, with him saying the pedal is the "base of his live sound". He has also been seen using a Univibe pedal, a Boss TR-2 Tremolo, a Boss tuner and the Small Clone and Small Stone from Electro Harmonix. [3]
